Basis Coverage operates a voice assistant that helps Medi-Cal members complete their annual coverage renewal by phone. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
When you use the service, we collect:
- Your phone number
- Your name
- Your date of birth
- Your answers to renewal questions
- Call transcript and recording metadata
- Your text messaging opt-in (your verbal agreement during the call to receive a text message)
How we use information
We use this information to verify your identity, complete your Medi-Cal renewal, and send you a text message containing a secure link to review and sign your pre-filled renewal form. We send one transactional text message for your renewal, and no marketing or promotional text messages.
Mobile information
Mobile information, including phone numbers and text messaging opt-in data, will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Service providers
We use service providers to operate the service, including Twilio for telephony and text messaging and DocuSign for electronic signatures. These providers process information only on our behalf and only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed to complete your renewal, to operate the service, and to meet legal and record-keeping obligations. After that, we delete it or remove information that identifies you.
Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Access and deletion requests
You may ask to see the information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Text messaging
Details about our text messages, including how to opt out, are in our Terms and Conditions. You can reply STOP to any text message at any time to opt out.
